Ecosystem Focus Area Core Team
Drawing on the wealth of experience of its member companies, the WBCSD offered a number of practical recommendations and a concise summary of the relative merits of various options in the broad area of biodiversity and ecosystems policy. For example, the WBCSD strongly supports the key principle of The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) report for policy makers; namely, that biodiversity and ecosystem values should be accounted for and integrated more consistently and effectively into policy, regulation and decision-making. Businesses want to work more closely with policy makers on the design and implementation of biodiversity and ecosystem related policy, and this collaboration can significantly improve prospects of policies achieving their intended conservation, sustainable use and benefit sharing objectives. WBCSD released this report at COP 10 of the Convention on Biological Diversity held in Nagoya, Japan, 18-28 October 2010.
