Document summary

Climate modellers predict increasingly frequent heavy rainfall events, especially in winter, leading to more flooding in the UK. This reports looks at flood events in the UK, examining exiting records and looking at future prospects. It highlights the need for climate resilient approaches to flood risk assessment to build on an assessment of past and present floodplain and river dynamics. This will in turn allow insurers and policymakers to identify areas where river corridors are vulnerable to future flooding and this help targeting resources at sites most at risks.
