Document summary

The meltdown of the Japanese Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power station reminded the world of the incalculable risks of nuclear energy and all the signs point to an end to nuclear energy’s renaissance. In the future the external costs of nuclear energy will need to be borne by the operators of nuclear power stations, making nuclear power less competitive. Clean tech meanwhile will profit from this trend. The structural change towards sustainable energy supply will ensure that investments in companies involved with nuclear energy will constitute risk-rich investments, whereas clean tech companies will offer more investment opportunities in the long-term.
