Document summary
This 2012 Update builds on the objective, quantitative approach to ESG analysis in the March 2011 Update. Seven new or self-standing ESG themes have been added to the existing 21, all of which are identified as “long shelf life” issues influencing long-term risk and performance. The new themes are: environmental energy dependence, pollution, resource depletion; social demographics; and governance, financial stability. Updated methodology is presented, including overall objectives, sources, indicators, themes, criteria, scoring process and how missing country/company data is dealt with.
