Economic Simulation & Control Of Cryptocurrencies: Simulator Development Launch
Simulation Demonstration

Long Finance's research programme, sponsored by DasCoin and also supported by the Cardano Foundation, is moving on to create an economic simulator for cryptocurrencies, which will ultimately be freely available, online. In this event, the prototype and proposed user interface were presented and the delegates had an opportunity to contribute their opinions and ideas for the next phase of development.

Using the economic simulator, users will be able to define the key parameters of a hypothetical cryptocurrency, its economic environment, and its control mechanisms, then interactively explore the problems of controlling it over simulated time, so it is an exciting albeit challenging idea. The overall aim is to promote a longer term view of cryptocurrencies and encourage the development of systems that really work as competitive, useful digital currencies. The purpose of this event is for us to share our ideas for the simulation with you, and for you to share your ideas, priorities, and reactions with us. All perspectives will be welcome. You will help to shape the features of the simulation and focus development resources on what matters most.

Some of the groundwork for this development project was laid through our report, “Control Frameworks For Cryptocurrencies: An Initial Evaluation” (, launched in July 2018, which complemented previous Long Finance work on governance, audit, and standards for smart ledger systems. It also reflected the focus of the Eternal Coin research programme, a global discussion on the nature of money and the concept of value over the long term.
