Document summary

The ET Carbon Rankings serve to encourage transparency by making emissions data more publically accessible, and lay the foundation for the ET Index Series, a market mechanism designed to tackle emissions within a rapid timeframe. The Rankings highlight that carbon reporting is extremely inconsistent, the majority of companies do not follow GHG Protocol guidelines in reporting emissions. The introduction of the GHG Protocol’s Corporate Value Chain Accounting & Reporting Standard in 2011 will have significant impact on company positions within the Ranking. Emissions data should be publically available, verified by an independent third party with verification certificates publically available.
