This study explores the emergence of the Biosphere Economy, a future where business-as-usual and politics-as-usual increasingly take account of natural capital and related forms of value, suggesting an economy working with biodiversity rather than against it. The emerging business case for investment in ecosystem services promises to be significantly more engaging for business leaders than earlier emotional appeals to protect biodiversity. In particular, this business brief looks at four business trends related to leadership, finance, operations and innovation and how these are shaping Boards and C-Suites agendas.
