Z/Yen Group, in partnership with the China Development Institute, held a special webclave (online conclave, a private, invitation-only meeting) to bring together representatives of financial centres across the world to discuss areas of common interest on restarting economies, adjusting strategies, and renovating financial centres for the next decade.
Background
Z/Yen Group has conducted research into the competitiveness of financial and commercial centres for many years. As part of its Financial Centre Futures programme, Z/Yen publishes the Global Financial Centres Index, the Global Green Finance Index and the Smart Centres Index.
At a time when the global economy is facing a major shock from the Covid-19 pandemic, financial centres will play an enormous role in assisting recovery, as well as being candidates for recovery themselves. We brought together our financial centre colleagues to share views on the role and future directions of finance and trade.
Format
The online event took place from 08:30 to 10:00 British Summer Time (GMT+1) on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. Financial centres were invited to have two representatives present at the event. The structure of the discussion was:
